 Beverly Hills History

In 1900 the Rodeo Land and Water Company  purchased the Hammel and Denker ranch in search of oil. After not finding enough to exploit commercially by the standards of the time they decided to rename the area “Beverly Hills,” after Beverly Farms in Beverly, Massachusetts.  They then subdivided the property and started selling lots.  The first house in the new subdivision called Beverly Hills was built in 1907.
